About Me

Since I was young, I've always had a niche for writing, visualizing, broadcasting and telling stories. As a writer and broadcaster, I strive to understand what the audience is specifically looking for when it comes to information and what is happening. I'm equally passionate about writing and play-by-play broadcasting. Each discipline allows me to craft my work in a unique way. I pride myself on learning everyday and striving to be one percent better as an individual and a leader. I prioritize the value of teamwork and the power of what a unified team can achieve as one unit. As an aspiring broadcaster, both teamwork and crafting a unique skillset play a vital role in the pathway to any vision. Lastly, I strive to work endlessly to paint the picture in the minds of the audience.

Throughout my life, I have demonstrated the ability to be a leader, teammate, writer and outstanding broadcaster. Please read more below about my in-depth experience currently and during my time at Penn State. When the pandemic struck in March of 2020, my original plans were altered a little and I started to work with my father while I finished my remaining coursework online. I believe that my past writing experience at Penn State has equipped me with the proper tools necessary for my current and future roles.

Currently, I write and podcast for the EveryDayFan. My current role began in September of 2021. I cover Penn State football, recruiting and the Big Ten Conference for the College Football Department. Besides that, I am assigned to the MLB Department where I cover weekly news, the Pittsburgh Pirates and other events such as the All-Star Game. In addition to that, in January of 2023, I was promoted to the College Football Department Head. In this role, I assist with the growth and development of the department. Outside of writing, I host, plan and launched the MLBInSideTheDiamond Podcast. A weekly podcast discussing news around Major League Baseball.

I am a proud first-generation college graduate of Penn State University. During my time at Penn State, I diversified my skillset and gained experience in radio play-by-play broadcasting, podcasting, writing, anchoring and reporting and leadership. My radio play-by-play broadcasting experience stems from my time with CommRadio. I covered Penn State sports which included: baseball, softball, volleyball and basketball. I also got hands-on experience crafting articles and producing podcasts. On top of that, I had the opportunity to host and produce my own talk show, TalkTime with Tom.

At the same time, I wanted to stretch my craft and write for other broadcasts platforms such as print and newspaper. That opportunity arose when I joined The Daily Collegian as a reporter for Penn State softball. My experience includes drafting and disseminating weekly articles in regards to upcoming games and other feature-related content. I also had the chance to attend games and press-conferences where I would utilize relevant media information to craft my work. Lastly, I would also interview players and coaches after the game and transcribe the soundbites into the articles.

Lastly, I was able to hone my anchoring and reporting skills. During my fifth-year at Penn State, I learned the ins-and-outs of television news. As a member of the Centre County Report, I had the honor and privilege of letting local viewers know what was happening in the community. I got hands-on experience anchoring newscasts. In the midst of all of that, I assisted with behind-the-scenes production. Operating different audio boards, camera equipment and teleprompters. I was able to cover Penn State wrestling and Penn State men's hockey. Finally, I also covered former State College Mayor Don Hahn, who went on to become Magisterial District Judge.

Besides my television news experience, I was hosted, provided analysis and and experienced more behind-the-scenes production with Penn State Sports Night. Overall, my experiences taught me how to remain calm when it comes to breaking news, tense moments, and getting work done under extremely tight deadlines. At the same time, I was able to learn how to think outside the box and bring a mundane story to life.

Finally, I had the ability to demonstrate my leadership skills at Penn State too. In September of 2018, I pursued a journey that I am equally passionate about and would help elevate my broadcasting skills as well. This journey led me on the path to referee intramural sports at Penn State. At first, I only officiated flag football, hockey, basketball and softball. I would explain the rules to captains of the teams which included co-ed opportunities and officiate games. Fast forward to September of 2019, I was promoted to shift supervisor where I would mentor over 20 up-and-coming referees and organize clinics to assists them with position and skills knowledge. In this role as well, I had trust from the staff to check-in participants and analyze statistical information that would solidify playoff seeding in each respective sport.
